About

Pips Woodhouse

Pips’ drawing career has been somewhat sporadic but certainly never boring.

Her high school artistic achievements were followed quite accidentally by a year of (very enjoyable) life drawing as part of another degree before she joined the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town. Here she focused more seriously on her artistic pursuits, of which drawing and illustration were a major part.

Illustration remained a part of her initial working life when she illustrated, for example, selected trees of the Kruger National Park, some animals and other aspects of nature, for a publication.

With her move to Australia at the turn of the century, her focus strayed from art to the more immediate urge to take on the challenges of marketing and sport.

Now, almost 20 years later, she has returned to her charcoals, pencils and pens, and is taking on portrait commissions, whether they be two or four legged, while also perhaps straying toward building or boat illustrations.
